Unfortunately I didn't take many pictures this time round but took a load of video clips, forgot that you can't put them on here so am going to try and and take some grabs off them later (once I finish reinstalling this computer AGAIN)
This was a new experience for me a Wednesday Morning at Stoney, what a difference from a weekend. Up for a dive with Dave Parker, Great Guy using a Dolphin Rebreather. Set out our day we thought we would try for 3 dives time permitting.
First dive in we thought down the road over the edge to the bus, across to the stanegarth and then back up to the 6m shelf for a bit of crayfish hunting! After a bit of ear equalisation issue finally hit the bottom and followed the plan quite well. Then the fun began coming up from 20m to 6m Dave suggested I use his SMB to take it slowly up, having never used one before and only having a quick overview at the surface I thought what the hell. He forgot to mention that you need 3 hands to wind it up and deflate your BCD at the same time!! But I made it, a little swim round at 6m looking quite unsuccessfully for Crayfish (Found 1 or 2 if I remember rightly) and then out for tea and a buttie.
Dive 2. We had been told that someone had seen a pike down by the armoured personell carrier so we thought sounds as good a plan as any. Off we went down to have a look, we found one lurking underneath, not sure how big as viz was awful maybe a foot or two but we saw one, over the edge again, and follow the chain to the Stanegarth. It was a bit quieter this time, last time it was crawling with photographers, so we had a swim through then back round and up to the 6m shelf for a good 15mins of Crayfish hunting and photography. After moving a lot of big rocks we did find a lot of Crayfish and managed to take some good video, even the perch having a go at eating them! Out again and time to get my tanks refilled as I have used 150bar from 2 15Ltr tanks and Dave had used 30 from a 10Ltr with his rebreather.
Dive 3. The question was where next, we had done most things on this side. We decided to veture across the far end and find the plane. We thought it best to get a good bottom time once we had swam all that way that we would stick close to the edge and swim round at 6m then go down to the plane. We managed to find the plane, boat and estate car without much trouble then started the long swim back as I knew my air dropping past the 100 point. A gentle swim back took a little longer than planned so I Hijacked some supply from Daves pony for 5mins on the way back but still made it out with just under 30bar left not bad for a 58 minute dive
Many thanks to Dave for the expert tuition and navigation, and I look forward to diving with you again.
